In a record breaking sale this month, a Penthouse at JW Marriott Residences Station was sold for $10,250,000, the highest purchase price ever for a Condo in Virginia. Per reports, the buyer purchased both of the 2 Penthouses at JW Marriott and combined them into 1 Unit, for a total of 5,768 interior square feet and 2,000 square feet of Balcony space. 

The previous highest sale record for a Condo sold in Virginia was $5,650,000 in 2024 for a Condo that sold at Waterview Tower in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington.

2026's Cherry Blossom season is here! I loved visiting the Tidal Basin on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, and photographing the Cherry Blossom trees. They're so pretty. View the video below from my visit. Virginia's proposed income Tax Rate increase 
and additional changes

The Commonwealth of Virginia's proposed Income Tax changes are a hot topic right now. Let's look at a list of the proposed Tax law changes that are included in HB 979 and HB 378.

HB 979

  • Establishes two new tax brackets beginning on and after January 1, 2027: Income between $600,000 - $1,000,000 to be taxed at a rate of 8%. Income in excess of $1,000,000 to be taxed at a rate of 10%. 
  • The bill provides that 50 percent of revenues generated by the new tax brackets will be dedicated to localities for maintenance, operation, capital outlays, debt and interest payments, or other expenses incurred in the operation of public schools.

2025 city of alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony
2025 Alexandria Virginia Tree lighting

The City of Alexandria's Tree lighting event will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 6 PM in Market Square at City Hall in Old Town Alexandria, located at 301 King Street in Alexandria, Virginia. The City invites the community to join Mayor Alyia Gaskins and a host of holiday friends at the annual Tree lighting ceremony. Admission is free and the event will be held rain or shine. 

Tree Lighting is expected to occur sometime between 6:40 - 6:55 PM following the arrival of Santa by way of the King Street Trolley. After 7 PM, enjoy the start of the holiday season with music and merriment while Santa and Mrs. Claus walk the Square and visit with families until 8pm.
